Parents' Corner - Handbook

Each parent is given a Handbook once they register their child with us at Bright Beginnings. Below is a sample of one of the pages.

Message from Centre Members

Dear Families,

Welcome to Bright Beginnings Day Care & Child Development Center. All of the dedicated
and caring staff want to be certain that your child has the very best early childhood experience
possible. We look forward to enhancing your child's growth and development, and thank you for
entrusting us with that privilege and responsibility.
It is our hope that this Center Handbook will help you to better understand our programs, polices,
philosophy, goals and objectives. Please take the time to read all the following information and
then sign and return the FAMILY AGREEMENT form before your child begins with us.
You are invited to drop in to visit with the staff or participate in your child's class at any time. If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 17710405.

Sincerely,
Bright Beginnings Center Staff

If a Child Lives With...
If a child lives with criticism, He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, He learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with jealousy, He learns to feel guilty.
But if a child lives with tolerance, He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, He learns self-confidence.
If a child lives with praise, He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, He learns justice.
If a child lives with approval, He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with security, He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, He learns to find love in the world

Early Childhood Care and Education Program

Early Childhood development is a process that is continually changing and expanding, therefore
both structured and unstructured activities are offered for children. However, our basic philosophy
is one of freedom to learn, grow, and make choices. We believe that children learn through
play and we have structured the environment to reflect that belief. This does not mean that the
program is not carefully planned. Early Childhood Educators and co-teachers at Bright Beginnings
are encouraged to be flexible and to allow the children freedom to learn at their own pace.
All activities are steps to growing and developing physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
Children learn in different ways, with all their senses. Varied experiences and materials
will be provided for multi-sensory and whole brain learning. Cognitive learning is not overemphasized,
but rather children are exposed to a variety of activities and involved in academic tasks
designed to help them develop a positive self-image. Practice in motor skills is encouraged.
Children learn independence, self-help, turn-taking skills, and how to interact with others.

The best atmosphere for learning is one of acceptance, mutual respect, pleasure, fairness, consistency, clear limits and expectations, and encouragement. A predictable, organized environment, with caring adults, clear expectations, and appropriate consequences supports the whole child. The outdoor play environment is an extension of the classroom, requiring the same level of adult planning, supervision, and involvement with the children.

Families are considered an integral part of our program. Daily communication and collaboration
between families and teachers are stressed. Support, encouragement, and assistance are vital in
helping to ensure personal and professional success for working parents and their families.
